Crepe Affaire Newcastle Review

AD - Invited.

Tucked away on the ground floor in Eldon Square near the escalators is Crepe Affaire, a small and very modern looking Creperie serving a selection of sweet and savoury French crepes. This week Crepe Affaire is celebrating its first birthday in Eldon Square and to celebrate they will randomly be handing out vouchers for a free crepe to ten purchasing customers per day during its Birthday week (this week). They will also be handing out a free glass of prosecco to all customers who place a crepe order after 5pm this Thursday (23rd November) too.

After a busy day of Christmas shopping in Newcastle, myself and the other half headed to Crepe Affaire to see what we thought.

We arrived just before 3pm on a Thursday afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually quite busy at this time of day. There was a queue when we arrived and this give us time to take in the surroundings, the interior is really modern, think exposed brick effect, lots of stainless steel with bright pops of yellow.

I decided to play it safe and ordered a plain Belgian chocolate crepe while the other half opted for one of the new luxury collection crepes the Ferrero Rocher Extravagance. The luxury range also features Oreo Cookie, Banana, Rum & Raisin and Reese's peanut butter pie flavours. All crepes are made fresh when you order so there was a slight wait for them to be cooked, so we retreated to a table to enjoy a nice cold drink whilst our food was prepared.

With a great selection of drinks on offer such as indulgent milkshakes, hot drinks, juices and fizzy drinks we were spoilt for choice. Wanting something refreshing I opted for a fresh orange juice, which was extremely refreshing whilst the other half went for a berry smoothie.

Before long our crepes were ready and brought to our table by the very friendly staff.  My Belgian chocolate crepe arrived with a dusting of icing sugar and warm melted chocolate in the centre. The crepe base tasted really nice and it was definitely the nicest crepe I had tried.

The other half's Ferrero Rocher Extravagance looked amazing, packed with Nutella, Walnuts and Ferrero Rocher complete with a scoop of ice cream and a Ferrero Rocher on top. This tasted amazing and he demolished it all in no time.

I really liked the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere of Crepe Affaire, the staff were really welcoming and helpful to all customers. I liked that all the crepes were made fresh and you could have either sweet or savoury option and they serve a great variety of drinks.

We both found the crepes to be surprisingly filling and I thought they were good value too with prices starting from £4.55 to eat in. This is somewhere that I think my children would really enjoy visiting, especially my teen and I think we will definitely be returning in the future with them.

Crepe Affaire is located downstairs in Eldon Squares Grey's Quatre, they have 15 branches around the UK and you can find out where and view the menu at www.crepeaffaire.com
