Getting Ready For Winter Time

I know it is only September but as the weather has been so wet and cold here in Newcastle (as always) I am already thinking of winter time. I definitely prefer winter over summer as I am a huge Christmas fan and I love nothing more than having cosy nights at home with my family, watching films with the heating on in our pyjamas.

As winter is coming I have already started getting our home winter ready, we have just had our boiler serviced today to make sure it is in tip-top condition for the colder months. We are starting to pack the garden toys away in the shed and pack away the summer clothes and dig out the winter jumpers and wellies. I have dusted off the slow cooker ready for making stews, roast beef and rice puddings as we love homely, warming meals when the weather is cold.

I am also planning on buying us all new duvets and duvet covers as there is nothing nicer than snuggling in a warm and cosy bed on cold and rainy days. We often all snuggle in bed watching films or take the duvets on the sofa to cuddle up and watch TV with. Since moving house our duvets don't really match our decor so I have my eye on some new ones from Julian Charles

I also want some new throws for the sofa to make the lounge cosier and I will be adding some new candles to my collection, I always think cinnamon ones are great for this time of year. I am also on the look out for a new lamp for the lounge as I always think the dim light from a lamp is so much cosier than having the 'big' light on.

I am so ready and looking forward to winter this year and can't wait to experience it in our home for the first time as we moved just before Christmas last year and everything was a bit chaotic. I am so looking forward to making lots of memories with my children this winter at home. What do you do to get your home ready for winter? I would love to know in the comments below.
