Other Bloggers Family Lives Featuring The Sleep Thief's Mummy

This week on Other Bloggers Family Lives I am featuring Donna from The Sleep Thief's Mummy, which is a blog about family life with two young girls. So let's find out more about Donna and her family.

The Sleep Thief's Mummy

1.) Tell me a bit about yourself and your family?

My name is Donna and I'm a 34-year-old recruitment consultant in a small market town. Pre-children I could usually be found on the stage in musicals, plays and concerts. It is though my love for the theatre that I met my husband Dan. He worked backstage on the first production I was in, we became friends and the rest is history.

We went out for 8 years before we got married (we move quick!). Then stuck to tradition and decided to have our first baby, Nina, five years later. Once life was levelling out and becoming comfortable again we decided to shake things up and give her a sibling (partner in crime) and along came Robyn. Our family is complete now with our two beautiful girls.

2.) Where do you live?

Corby, Northamptonshire. The house that we're in is too small and should be named the 'money pit'. Hopefully, we will be moving soon.

3.) What is your favourite thing to do as a family where you live?

We're spoilt for choice locally, we have many country parks, a zoo, farm, theme parks, playgrounds and soft plays - there's always somewhere to go. While I've been on SMP and the weather has been nice we have been picnicking a lot. Free fun!

4.) If you could live anywhere where would you?

Probably a strange answer but Betws y Coed in Wales. We love walking so being near the mountains would really suit us.

5.) Did you grow up close to where you live now and what are your favourite childhood memories of where you grew up?

I live in the same town I was raised - only a few miles from the house I grew up in. My parents weren't well off so we made our own fun, playing games like 'kick the can' which is hide and seek - but the length of time you had to hide depended on how far the can was kicked.

I loved family Fridays, Dad would get a takeaway, (normally fish and chips, but a Chinee if they were feeling flush) a video from the library and a booty bag (bag of doom - sweets and stickers, it's a shame they don't sell them anymore!).

6.) Have you got any exciting plans for the year ahead?

Hopefully moving house, having a much-needed family holiday and replacing our cars - they're held together with string and pre-chewed gum.

7.) What is your favourite thing about family life?

All of it. The madness, the noise, the giggles, the 'I've bumped my knee's' and the 'hold my hand's'. The stolen kisses with my husband when they're not looking. The relief when the girls are in bed and the silence that sometimes follows. I love that there's so much to look forward to and knowing how lucky I am.

Thank you so much for taking part Donna I enjoyed reading your answers, some of them certainly made me laugh. I hope that you get to move house soon as I know how frustrating it can be waiting to move home, we spent most of last year waiting to move.
