A Family Meal At The New Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre

AD

Update this has now shut down.

On Saturday we were invited along to the all new Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre, located near the Metrocentre, to enjoy a family meal and try out the brand new play area. As a family we love dining out at Brewers Fayre, having visited the Royal Quays branch in the past.

Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre is ideally located for a meal before or after a trip to the Metrocentre, as it is just a few minutes away. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and shown to our seats in the spacious dining area. Being new everywhere was spotlessly clean and tidy and nicely decorated, with spacious booths and tables.

We headed straight to the indoor soft play area that is attached to the restaurant and which you can visit as part of a meal. Perfect for young children like my own who get bored easily when dining out. The soft play area was nicely decorated with bright colours and consisted of a small baby area and Little Tikes cars for younger children and then a soft play area that my two and three years old loved.

They had a games room for older children and a seating area for parents. There was a desk in the play area which served drinks, ice lollies, and sweets. Unfortunately, I found the staff in the play area were ignoring people who were trying to get drinks and we waited for ages to be checked into the soft play area and then again to get a drink. Luckily every single other member of staff we encountered on the day were extremely helpful and friendly.

Dennis and Nasher made an appearance and my two-year-old son loved him, constantly giving him high-fives.

After wearing the children out in the soft-play for a half an hour we headed to our table where we quickly served are meals. I ordered the Smothered Chicken main meal (£8.99) which was served with chips, coleslaw, garlic bread and a salad garnish. It was a really generous portion size, the chicken was cooked perfectly and was a meal that I really enjoyed.

The other half went for the South Western Burger (£8.49) which was a chicken breast burger with spicy mayo and salad. Served with chips and crunchy coleslaw. Again this was a generous portion size and was a meal that he really enjoyed, especially the spicy mayo sauce.

All three children ordered off the children's menu where the main meal costs £3.99 and you can add a starter or pudding for an extra 75p each. I think these are amazing value and the children's menu actually had quite a few meals to choose from.

My little two both wanted the hot dog meals, which consisted of hot dog in a bun, chips, and corn on the cob. Desserts were funny face ice cream, they were provided with an ice-cream and sweets to decorate it with.

My teen normally orders off the main menu when we dine out however I ordered her a child's meal and I was a bit worried it would not be filling for her, however, she was actually full of her meal as they were quite big portion sizes. She went for the beef burger in a bun, chips and a corn on the cob followed by Chocolate pizza for pudding.

I had a delicious warm chocolate brownie dessert (£3.29) and the other half had salted caramel profiteroles (£3.49), which were very moreish.

We really liked Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre, it was really nice inside and the play area is great for little ones. The food was delicious and great value and the waiting staff were extremely friendly and attentive and great with the children. I am sure that we will be visiting again in the future as it is the perfect place for a family lunch with young children.
