Falling In Love With The Teletubbies Again

When my eldest daughter who is now 13 was a baby she absolutely adored the Teletubbies, she watched them every single day on Cbeebies and would get so excited when it came on TV. She was such a big fan that she had all four characters in ted version which she would take to bed each night. Now she is a teenager and her Teletubbie days are long behind her but whenever I hear them mentioned I always remember them fondly and they instantly remind me of her toddler days.

Now in 2016 as well as having a teenager I also have a one year old little boy and a just turned 3 year old little girl and I admit they did not really know anything about the Teletubbies. I thought that the show had finished and was just a happy memory of so many children's childhood. Well I was wrong as Cbeebies have a whole new Teletubbies series which still features the very much loved characters of Laa Laa, Tinky-Winky, Dipsy and Po but has been refreshed for children to enjoy, an impressive 19 years after it was first launched!

The new show airs on the Cbeebies channel at 7am each weekday morning and is also available to view on BBC iplayer making it the perfect show for little ones to start the day with. I put it on for my little two and both of them were captivated from the very start, they were drawn to the bright colours and seemed to take an instant liking to the four lovable characters and of course the iconic smiling baby sun.

We watched an episode about selfies and a little boy visiting a photo booth with his grandfather which my three year old thought was fascinating and she was trying to copy the funny faces they were pulling. The show is on for around 15 minutes and was just the right amount of time for my little two to sit and watch, they really seemed to get involved in the show too pointing and laughing along with the characters. I also like the show too as not only does it bring back fond memories of my eldest daughters childhood for me but I also love the educational element to the show and I think the new brighter colours and modern look for the show are great.

I can see the Teletubbies once again becoming a firm favourite in this household again. I am sure we will have lots more special memories of them from my little twos childhood as they have both well and truly fallen in love with them just like their older sister did many years before them.

  1. T used to watch Teletubbies too when she was younger. She's nearly six now and has outgrown them. I'm afraid I don't know what's going on anymore in Teletubbies land ;)

  5. Bizarrely N likes the Teletubbies, despite him being too old for them in my opinion. Personally, I'm not a fan but then I wasn't the last time round either. It is funny seeing old tv programmes revitalised though

    1. It really is strange when they revitalise something, I do like the new changes though it looks much brighter and appealing to children now x
