#EnjoyMoreWater This Summer With Robinsons Squash'd

As I am back on a diet and trying to lose weight once and for all I have been making an effort to try and drink more water. I do actually like water and will often buy a bottle if I am thirsty and we are out, however I hardly drink any at home. I am all to aware that my children copy what I do so I need to keep reminding myself to eat healthy and drink more water so that they do too.

My little boy Jacob drinks lots of water and is forever asking for a drink in his sippy cup. However my two girls are like me and they don't really drink a lot, if you asked me how much my children actually drank each day I honestly would have no idea how much they drink. It seems that I am not alone in not knowing how much water my children drink as 64% of parents surveyed by Robinsons did not know either. The survey also found that 42% of parents said that their children find the taste of water 'boring', a phrase that my own teen mutters often.

I normally add a small amount of squash to my children's water as it makes them more likely to drink it, especially on hot summer days when they need plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. I am a big fan of Robinsons squash as I remember it so fondly from my own childhood, the fact it has no added sugar and is free from artificial colours and preservatives and actually contains real fruit in every drop appeals to me as a parent.

We were recently sent some little bottles of Robinsons Squash'd which are handy little super concentrated squash that are perfect for keeping in your bag or changing bag for days out at the beach or park this summer. Having one of these little bottles in my bag means that when we are out I can easily buy a bottle of water and add a little squirt of Squash'd into it to make a delicious drink I know that my children will enjoy.

Robinsons Squash'd comes in six flavours which are
  • Lemon & Lime
  • Citrus
  • Summer Fruits
  • Apple & Blackcurrant
  • Passion Fruit & Mango
  • Orange & Peach

I loved the Lemon & Lime whilst my children loved the summer fruits and my partner loves the Passion Fruit & Mango - a flavour to suit everyone. We were also sent a fun little reward chart to help encourage my children to drink more water, my three year old loves this chart but does not fully understand it yet - I am sure it will be a great incentive for slightly older children. This got me thinking of little tips that I use to encourage my children to drink more water

1.) Get your child to help make the drink. Whenever I let my three year old help make her own drink she is sure to finish every last drop.

2.) Add their favourite squash.

3.) Buy them a special character cup.

4.) Buy special straws. (I remember bendy straws from my own childhood.)

5.) Bring drinks on trips to the park / soft play.

I also noticed that my children found these Squash'd bottles a real novelty, they loved having a drink made from them on days out at the park and even days just playing in the garden. I will certainly be stocking up on more of these drinks as not only do they taste delicious but they are also just so handy to keep in my bag for days out and about. I have give my teen a one to take into school to liven up her lunch time water and my partner wants some to take in to work.

Have you tried Robinsons Squash'd yet ? Also if you have any tips for getting children to drink more water let me know them in the comments below.
