Goodbye 2015

I know that everyone says this but I can not believe that today is the very last day of 2015, it really seems to have flown over so quickly. I still remember writing about saying goodbye to 2014 last year and looking back on what an amazing year we had experienced in 2014, with the birth of our youngest child. 2015 has been a nice year, I would not say that anything remarkable has happened, in fact, I would go as far as describing it as quiet, as nothing major happened, nothing bad happened either which is always good though.

So what was 2015 like for me and my family? I love how I have this blog which records all the special moments in our family life and helps me remember the year gone by.

January was a really quiet month for us as we were adjusting to life with Jacob who was four months old and still crying and unsettled with colic. Life was manic with two under twos so I did not blog much as I was always exhausted. We did not do much as a family either if I am honest, that is always the way in January though isn't it as every one's bank balance is looking a bit bleak after Christmas.

February was the month that Jacob got christened and we had such a lovely day celebrating with around 80 family and friends. Jacob looked super smart in his little suit and he was spoilt with lots of lovely gifts and most important of all lots of lovely memories were made. I did have a total mummy fail on the day though and put my tights on back to front as I was in a rush getting ready, I then spent the majority of the day pulling them up all day (so not a good look).

March was the month this blog of mine turned one, I can not believe that I have actually stuck at this for almost two years now. I rarely have the time to blog but hopefully, that will all change this year once my children are both in nursery and I actually have a few hours to myself each week, or maybe I will just catch up on sleep.

April was the month I decided to do something about my weight and joined Slimming World, I will be honest and say that it was not the right time for me to lose weight as I was exhausted of a non-sleeping baby Jacob and not fully committed. I did go on to lose two stone though (I have probably put it all back on over Christmas) and I now feel like I am now in the right frame of mind to really focus on things and give Slimming World my all this year.

In May Sophia turned two and we had a party at the local soft play to celebrate followed by a tea party and a meal out with family. Sophia had a great time and got a little tykes car, Happyland sets and a dumper truck. May also marked ten years since my mum died in an accident, and whilst I still miss her every single day time really is a healer and I can remember her now with a smile rather than tears.

britmums live 2015

In June I was lucky enough to attend my very first Britmums Live blogging event in London thanks to my sponsor MAM baby. I had a wonderful time meeting so many bloggers, some of whom I now class as proper friends. I came away with a head full of ideas for improving my blog, six months later I am still waiting to find the time to implement them.

July was the start of the summer holidays and we had some nice family days out at the beach and it was nice just relaxing and spending time together as a family. We did not have as many days out as we normally would do, due to having the little two but we still had a lovely time and created some much-cherished family memories.

August was the month that my baby boy Jacob turned one year old and we celebrated with a family meal out and a family day at the fair and beach. He had a great day with a pirate birthday cake, lots of toot toot cars, a pirate ship ride on and Fisher price chair. It was crazy to think that I set this blog up to record my pregnancy with Jacob and now he is a 16-month-old toddler.

September was a busy month as Chloe started year 8 in secondary school and Sophia started pre-school a few hours per week, which she has loved since day one. We also started potty training Sophia which she took to straight away at home but it has taken a while for her to be dry outside of the home, however, I think we have now cracked it. September was also a busy month on the blog front, firstly we were invited (well Lee and Chloe) to take part in Gung-Ho a fun 5k inflatable obstacle course, it looked amazing! We were also invited to enjoy the Beamish package that Marriott hotels offer and we spent a lovely night in their Metrocentre hotel before a fun-filled day at Beamish.

October was the month Chloe turned into an official teenager as she turned 13, she celebrated with a day of shopping and lunch with her friends. Unfortunately a week after her birthday she had to go into hospital for an operation but she recovered quickly. We also had an amazing day out at Disney on Ice with the girls and my three-year-old niece Heidi.

November was my birthday month and myself and the other half had a rare child-free meal out at Blackfriars in Newcastle. My blog also had a makeover, which I love from the amazing Ellie Illustrates and I think really captures what this little blog is about and looks much better then it did before.

December has been a quiet month on the blog front as I have just been so busy getting organised for Christmas, I think everyone else was the same as my views seriously dropped this month, although they are starting to pick up again now. Christmas was magical this year as the children were all able to open their own presents and the look on their faces was priceless, Sophia could not believe her luck when she came downstairs and seen her new kitchen, Chloe was amazed she had a new iPad and Jacob just loved ripping presents open and eating chocolate.

So, all in all, we have a nice year, as 2015 comes to a close I can safely say we are well and truly settled into being a family of five. I am really looking forward to 2016 as I have lots of hopes for the year ahead such as a new house, hopefully, a holiday, as well as lots of adventures creating precious family memories along the way.
