My three-year-old son Jacob loves vehicles like trains, he especially loves playing with train sets. A few months ago we reviewed a Brio Metro Railway Set and he spends hours building the track up and playing with it. So when we were asked if we would like to review a Brio Railway Starter Set and starter pack I thought this would be a great addition to his Brio collection.
Brio makes lovely wooden toys and all of the playsets easily connect together, meaning he can put all of his sets together to make one big set or he can just play with his sets on their own. The sets are all really sturdy and well made and I know that they will last him for years.
As I mentioned we were recently sent the Railway Starter Set which costs around £39.99 and is a great stand alone set to start a child's collection. The Railway Starter Set is a figure of eight shape and it has a tunnel in the middle, everything you need to create the track is included in the box.
Inside the box you get
- 1 bridge / tunnel
- 12 curved pieces of track
- 2 straight pieces of track
- 2 sloped pieces of track
- 2 engines and 1 carriage
- 3 play people
- 1 bench
- 1 suitcase
- 1 signal post
The track easily slots into place and took about five minutes to put together, once built it was a good size for Jacob to play with and did not take up too much floor space.
We were also sent the Brio Railway Track Starter Pack (£17.99) which comes with more pieces of track to make your Railway set bigger. When we extended the track with the starter pack it made the set much bigger and a great size for two children to play with together. My four-year-old daughter loves the set just as much as her brother does.
If you are looking for a wooden railway set for a young child then I think this one is perfect. It is well made, sturdy, looks good and children will love it.
Disclosure We were sent this set for the purpose of this review, however, all opinions are my own.
