Things I Loved October 2017

I am so happy to see the back of October as it was an awful month for us, it was a month full of job uncertainty, money worries and yet more broken appliances. The other month our fridge died and this month our very expensive TV died (fingers crossed it can be fixed). It has also been a month full of illness, poor Sophia had a chest infection and was on antibiotics and then we all had the most horrific sickness bug over half-term, I am still recovering from it now a week later!

Even though the month was pretty rubbish compared to last month I still like to try and see the positive so let's have a look at some of the things that I loved in October.

1.) Sunderland Illuminations

We had a lovely family day out recently to Sunderland Illuminations with Metro trains, it was the first time we had visited as a family and the children loved it. We had a nice evening seeing all the Disney themed illuminations, riding on the model railway and visiting the fairground. I always love family day's out like these making precious memories.

2.) Disney on Ice

At the very start of the month, we were also lucky enough to go and see Disney on Ice at Metro arena. We love Disney on Ice, I used to take my eldest when she was younger and now I take my little two and they love it just as much as their big sister did. It was the first time we had taken Jacob and I think it all got a bit much for him as he fell asleep towards the end and we had to leave early with him.

3.) Chloe's Birthday

My eldest turned 15 at half-term and it is crazy to think I now have a 15-year-old, I can still remember being 15 myself! For her birthday she went shopping to town with her boyfriend (I feel so old saying that) and for Nando's, then we had a Chinese on the evening. It looked like I had hardly brought her anything for her birthday as every year the present pile seems to get smaller, this year she wanted the new Urban Decay eyeshadow pallet and clothes.

4.) Family Meal

For Chloe's birthday, we also went to her favourite Italian restaurant a few days after her birthday for a family meal. I love dining out and all three children seemed to really enjoy it, the food was lovely and it was nice to spend some time together and enjoy each others company.

5.) Thai Cooking

I was invited along to Chaophraya Thai restaurant in Newcastle to take part in a cooking class. It was a great evening learning to cook some yummy Thai dishes that I will definitely try to make myself at home.

6.) Stranger Things

I only heard about Stranger Things on Netflix a couple of weeks ago and I decided to watch it just before the second series came out. I loved it and binged watched the first series in just two nights before moving on to the second series. I got my other half and teen hooked on it too, it is just so good and I can not wait for series 3!

7.) Half-Term

It was lovely having all three children home for a week over half-term. I think Sophia was ready for some time at home after completing her first term in reception and even though the week was filled with illness for us all it was nice to spend time at home together.

8.) Halloween

The little two were so excited for Halloween this year as it is the first time they properly understood. I took them to a Halloween party at the weekend and Jacob loved seeing all the spooky costumes and bopping away at the disco. On Halloween, they went trick or treating just around our street with their cousins and they loved it, Sophia was a witch and Jacob a scary clown.

9.) New Routine

Now that the children are settled into school the other half has changed his hours at work and it is nice that he is now home every evening to put the children to bed. He is working fewer hours and is no longer working 10-hour shifts which makes family life so much easier.

10.) Autumn

I really love this time of year, autumn is probably one of my favourite seasons as I love the darker nights and colder weather. I love being at home all cosy on an evening, making warming dinners and the build-up to Christmas.

So those are some of the things that I have loved from the month gone by, how was your October? I would love to know in the comments below.
