BBC Newcastle Children's Tour Review

Did you know that you can book a tour to go behind the scenes at BBC Newcastle? I didn't until we were kindly invited along last week to see what the children's interactive tours were like. BBC Newcastle runs two different types of tour's, the children's one which we went on and is recommended for children aged 6-12 years old and they also have an adult one. If you don't live in the North East then you can also book on tours at your local BBC studios.

An Easter Visit To Whitehouse Farm Morpeth

Whenever I think of Easter I not only think of chocolate eggs and fish and chips but also of baby chicks and lambs, and what better way to see them than a visit to a farm? You just can't beat a spring time Easter trip to the farm, seeing all the newborn baby animals and getting outside in the countryside is fun for the whole family. Living just outside of Newcastle my favourite farm that we have been visiting for many years is Whitehouse farm, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year!

Tiny Town Newcastle

Being a mum to two pre-schoolers I am always on the lookout for fun places that I can take them and last week we discovered somewhere pretty special, Tiny Town Newcastle. Tiny Town is located in Chapel House in the West Denton area of Newcastle, tucked away near the shops in a large detached house which has been transformed into a magical role play centre for young children to have fun and let their imagination run wild.

Tiny Town opened over a year ago now and I have been meaning to visit ever since I was invited when it first opened, after following them on Facebook and seeing what fun it was I knew that I had to take my 2 and 3-year-old along to see what they thought. It is recommended for children from around one to six years old, making my children the perfect age for a visit.

A Quick Family Midweek Meal With Dolmio

As a mum of three, with a partner who works shifts, midweek evening meals can be a bit hectic. I am often solo parenting whilst keeping an eye on and trying to entertain my two and three years old and trying (and often failing) to help my teen with her homework. So trying to make a healthy, tasty home cooked family evening meal whilst dealing with the chaos of family life, is let's face it sometimes a bit of a struggle.

As a family, we are not a fan of frozen or microwaved foods, much preferring to have a proper meal around the table each evening. This is where Dolmio come to the rescue, I am sure you are all familiar with the iconic when is your Dolmio day adverts? Well as a busy mum I always have a jar of Dolmio bolognese stashed in the kitchen pantry for those days where we want a healthy, tasty meal but we are short on time.

Young Driver Driving Lessons for 10-17 year-old's at Newcastle Racecourse

Did you know that you book your 10 - 17-year-old child onto driving lessons? Neither did I until I heard about Young Driver driving lessons. Recently myself and my teen were invited down to the recently opened venue at Newcastle's Gosforth Park racecourse, which is only a five-minute drive from where we live. Young Drivers used to be based near the Metrocentre but the new venue at the racecourse is brilliant as it is so easy to get to from the A1 and A19 with free onsite parking and regular buses stopping outside the racecourse gates.

March 2017

We are now a quarter of the way through the year, I know I keep saying it but this year really does seem to be whizzing on by. Sometimes I really do wish that things would slow down a little so that I can enjoy these years with my children just that little bit longer, they are growing so big right before my eyes. March was another strange month for us, not a lot happened and we did not do a lot but it was a nice quiet month both in real life and blog wise.

Orchard Toys Smelly Wellies Game

We are big fans of Orchard Toys, we have quite a few of the games now and my three-year-old Sophia loves playing with them. Sophia has a speech delay and playing these games with her actually makes her concentrate and helps to learn her new words, so we make an effort to play a game with her regularly. Even though we play the games regularly she never gets bored of them, but she was delighted when she was recently sent a new game to play called Smelly Wellies.

Thing's I Have Loved In March 2017

We are now a quarter of the way through the year, spring is in the air and the days seem to be whizzing on by at record breaking speed lately. March was another strange month for me, I was unwell yet again and it meant that we did not do a lot as a family. Anyway, spring is now in the air, the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds and I am so looking forward to the warmer weather as everything seems so much better when the sun is shining. So let's have a look at some of the things that I have been loving from the month gone by.

Win A Num Noms Series 3 Bundle

Have you heard of Num Noms yet? If you are a parent I am sure that you have as children adore them, my three-year-old daughter certainly does as she has built up a collection of them over the past year. We reviewed them last year and they have become a firm favourite in our house, as they are cute, fun and appealing for children. Num Noms have recently launched a new series 3 collection and I have a bundle of them to give away to one lucky reader.

Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Live Review

Last weekend my two pre-schoolers could not believe their luck when we went to see Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom live at Newcastle's beautiful Tyne theatre and opera house. They really did have the best time and even now a week later they are still talking about the show and keep asking when they can go and see it again. Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is a popular children's TV show showing on Nick Jr and 5's Milkshake and is a show that my children adore and watch each morning and it has been turned into a stage show for pre-schoolers to enjoy.

Mothers Day Shopping At Silverlink Shopping Park

This Sunday is Mothers Day and if you are still looking for a gift for your loved one then a trip to Silverlink retail park is sure to help you out. Living in Tyneside I often visit the Silverlink shopping park, located in Wallsend near the Tyne Tunnel, as it is easy to get too and has a great selection of shops and restaurants along with plenty of free parking. As a Mam I find shopping here so much easier than going into Newcastle city centre, as we can park close to the store we want and it is just a much easier shopping experience when you have young children.

Mothers Day Gifts From Pia Jewellery

Mothers day is this Sunday and if you are still looking for the perfect gift for your Mam or children's mam then don't worry as I have found the perfect gift idea. As a Mam myself I love receiving gifts that I can keep for years to come, and what better gift that you can keep then jewellery? I don't wear a lot of jewellery myself so when I do get some I like it to be high quality and something that will last me for many years and be a real investment piece to add to my collection.

Pia Jewellery Review

Step forward Pia Jewellery and their beautiful range of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches and rings made from silver, gold and gemstones. Pia recently contacted me and asked if I would like to review a pendant and earring set from their Mother's Day collection and of course I accepted, after all, it is not often this Mam gets to review things as I normally only get sent stuff for the children to review.

Win A Project Mc2 H20 Nail Science Lab

Did you know that this week is British Science week? Running from the 10th to the 19th of March and Netflix show Project Mc2 is an official sponsor of the event. Project Mc2 really are the perfect sponsor for British Science week as the show helps inspire older children and tweens to take an interest in S.T.E.A.M subjects - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

Project Mc2 follows a group of six girls who are super-smart and very cool and use their love of science and spy skills to undertake secret missions for a top-secret organisation, NOV8. As a mum to two girls myself (and a boy) I think that any kind of show and toy range that helps encourage children to take an interest in these subjects is a brilliant idea.

Beauty And The Beast Toys From Jakks Pacific Review

Today the very much anticipated adaptation of Disney Classic Beauty and the Beast is released in Cinemas and I am so excited! Beauty and the Beast is a film that I remember well from my own childhood, I remember going to see the animated film back in the early 90's and it has always been a film that I have adored. My three-year-old daughter Sophia is also a huge Beauty and the Beast fan, she is always watching the film and Belle is without a doubt her most favourite Disney princess.

To celebrate the release of the movie we were very kindly sent a bundle of Beauty and the Beast products from Jakks Pacific, Sophia's little face lit up when they arrived. We were sent a beautiful Ballroom Belle doll, a musical Enchanted Rose Jewellery box, an Enchanted Objects Tea Set and a copy of the latest Disney Princess magazine. I had serious envy as these toys were so pretty and perfect for any Beauty and the Beast fan.

February 2017

I feel like I have not sat down and written on here in ages. I guess sometimes life just gets in the way, I wish I could say that I have been far too busy having fun and doing something amazing, but I have not. The truth is I have constantly been ill and I kind of lost my blogging mojo, I just don't have any energy to sit and write at the moment. I wish that I did as I have such a backlog of work at the moment but my mind has been elsewhere. I don't mean to sound like a grump but I have been so run down lately and I have had one illness after the other for the last eight weeks or so, as soon as I start feeling better I get unwell again with coughs, colds and sickness bugs.

feb 2017 quayside

I feel like I am running on empty as Jacob has well and truly hit the dreaded terrible twos, he is waking every day at around 5 am after a few hours of broken sleep and then is grumpy during the day having tantrums and is very clingy. That is probably why I am so unwell as I don't get the chance to rest and get better. I am exhausted and I am living on copious amounts of coffee, my diet has gone out the window (again) as I am living on soups and toast. Anyway as I have been so run down and unwell lately we have not done very much lately, but here is a look at what we got up to in February 2017.

Can you believe that February is almost over and in a few days time it will be March and springtime? Crazy how fast this year is whizzing by already. I never got round to writing about what I had loved about January so here is a look at some of the things that I have loved from February 2017.

Cirque Du Soleil Varekai Tour Newcastle - Review

Cirque Du Soleil is a show that I have wanted to see for such a long time now, I have always heard such great things about it in the press and from people who had seen it themselves. So when I was recently invited to see the show on opening night in Newcastle I jumped at the chance, taking my teenage daughter along to watch the show with me. Earlier in the week, I posted all the details about the Cirque Du Soleil tour Varekai, where to buy tickets and what the show was about which you can read about here.

Tapas Revolution Opens In Newcastle

At the moment we are spoilt for choice with places to dine in Newcastle, with new restaurants opening regularly in the newly developed Eldon Square Greys quarter. The latest one to open being Tapas Revolution which opens today (13th February 2017) and is a welcome addition to the Newcastle food scene. I was lucky enough to be invited along for a behind the scenes sneak preview last week, where I not only got to have a look around the restaurant but I also got to meet Spanish celebrity chef and founder Omar Allibhoy and take part in a Tapas masterclass he was hosting. All whilst sampling some delicious authentic Spanish cuisine and some wonderfully refreshing drinks.

CatPawCino - The Quayside Cat Cafe

A couple of Sunday's ago we were invited down to CatPawCino, which is a cat cafe located on Newcastle's quayside. I have never been to a cat cafe before although I had walked past CatPawCino a few times before and my teen - Chloe kept mentioning that she would like to visit, so I took her along with me. As we visited on a Sunday morning the quayside was bustling with the market, overlooking the Tyne CatPawCino was the perfect place to visit and warm up after a January stroll along the very cold quayside.

January 2017

As usual I am late in writing about the month gone by, it honestly does not seem so long ago that I was writing about what we had been up to in December. January was a funny old month, I suppose it always is, everyone is on a Christmas come down, bank balances look a bit bleak and the weather is rubbish. It was certainly a strange month for me, I ended up in hospital after getting bitten off my cat, who knew cats could cause such damage? The month was not all bad, though, so let's have a look at what life was like for us in January 2017.

Learning To Cook Thai At Thaikhun Cooking School

I really love Thai food, however whenever I have tried to create my own Thai dishes at home it has been a bit of a disaster, shop brought jars just don't taste the same. So when I was recently invited along to Thaikhun in the Metrocentre to take part in their new cookery school I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to learn how to cook Thai food myself. Classes are held in Thaikhun restaurants around the country and cost £50 per person, during the class you will learn to make an authentic Thai starter and a main dish which you get to enjoy in the restaurant once cooked. You also get a welcome drink and a goody bag to take home in with the price and classes run for around 2 hours, although the class I attended did run over by around an hour as it was the first class they had hosted.

I am so late in writing this post, but I have just not had time to blog lately due to being unwell and suffering an injury to my arm. Anyway, I am back to blogging today and I have so much to catch up on and what better way to catch up on blogging than to have a look back at the year gone by. 2016 was a strange year for us, we did not do a lot as most of the year was spent waiting to move which put all of our plans on hold. The move was worth it though and we love the new house. So let's have a look at what we got up to in 2016.

Tips For Saving Money On Your Family Holiday

As a family with young children we have not had a holiday abroad for years, the last few years have been super busy for us with having children and moving house so a family holiday has not been possible. Now that we have moved and the children are past the baby stage we have been thinking about booking a family holiday abroad for later in the year. After a crazy busy few years I feel like I am in need of a break, a chance to relax in the sun, have time off from house work and to have fun and spend quality time together as a family.

With it being the the little twos first time abroad we have been looking at staying in Europe, somewhere with a short flight time and that won't be too hot. Probably somewhere like the Balearic islands, however being a family of five we have found that holiday's for larger families are a lot more expensive then we thought as larger hotel rooms are limited. Luckily my brother works in the travel industry and he has passed on a few tips to me on how to book a family holiday in the sun without blowing our budget.

Banish Those January Blues With Some Feel Good Films Plus A Twitter Giveaway

January is such a miserable month, isn't it? everyone is broke after Christmas, the weather is rubbish and we end up feeling a bit deflated stuck at home during the cold, dark evenings. Now it is half way through January I am feeling a bit bored, I am trying to be good and save some pennies and the weather is rubbish so we have been spending a lot more time at home lately. My other half is a huge movie fan so I have vowed this year to spend more time watching DVD's with him at home. Let's face it snuggling up all cosy on the sofa with a good film is perfect for this time of year, especially a good comedy to chase away those winter blues.

December 2016

As always I am super duper late in writing my monthly round-up post, it feels like forever since I wrote Novembers post. My blog has been a bit like tumbleweed at the moment, I have so much to write about but I just have not had the chance to sit down and type, mainly due to illness and my cat putting me in hospital! Yes you read that right my cat put me in hospital, he bit me on the arm and I ended up going to the minor injury clinic as it would not stop bleeding hours later and they referred me for plastic surgery to get the wounds cleaned out and fixed and four days worth of check-ups. Typically it was my right arm and it is still a bit sore now two weeks later so blogging has had to take a bit of a back seat. Anyway, let's take a look at what December 2016 was like for us.

Surprising Thing's That Happen After You Have A Baby

When I started this blog, over two years ago now it started off as a pregnancy blog. I started it simply to record my third pregnancy, so I could remember and look back on my pregnancy someday, but also because I know when your pregnant you love reading about other people's pregnancies too. I would devour every pregnancy book and magazine I could find in my first and second pregnancy and loved watching TV shows such as One Born Every Minutes. I felt like I knew all about pregnancy, what to expect at each stage, tips for staying comfortable and what to buy etc. No one really tells you what to expect after you have the baby though, celebrities seem to ping back in shape in a matter of days and looking online and in magazines, you get the impression everything goes back to normal straight away.

Christmas 2016

Christmas seems to have gone by in a flash this year and we had such a lovely time as a family, it was our first Christmas in our new home and the first time we have actually had a proper family Christmas at home - we normally eat out on Christmas day. Now we have a bigger house and the little two truly believe in the magic of Christmas we decided to stay home this year, just us five and it was so so lovely. The other half had 10 whole days off work so I decided to take a couple of weeks off from this blog too, spending quality time together was just what we all needed. One thing I do regret though is that I took hardly any photographs, I really need to get into the habit of taking more.

Thing's I Loved In December 2016

Each month I love writing about the things that I have loved from the month gone by, sort of like a happy list. I have just had the most wonderful couple of weeks off from blogging and social media, it was blissful to just spend quality time with my family without constantly being on my iphone! Totally going to spend a lot less time on my phone this year. Anyway as I had a break from my blog I am late writing this month's post about things I have loved from the month gone by, it seems ages since I wrote November's post. So let's have a look at what I loved in December.

My 10 Most Popular Blog Posts Of 2016

As it is now 2017 I thought that I would once again look back on what have been my most read posts of the year gone by. Strangely enough most of last year's most popular posts are still getting a lot of views daily too. When I sat down to see which of my posts have been the most popular this year I was actually rather surprised with some of them, I really should keep an eye on google analytics more. So here are my most read posts from 2016.
