Classic Tiny Tears Doll Review

When I was a little girl I loved playing with my doll and pram, I always remember that I had a Tiny Tears doll and I used to love dressing it up and pushing it around the garden in its pram. Fast forward over 30 years later and Tiny Tears is still going strong, in fact she celebrated her 50th birthday last year as she was launched here in the UK in the 1960's. She was the first fully functioning feeding, crying and wetting doll with closing eyes, moveable arms, legs and head.

Tiny Tears Doll Review

She has changed slightly over the years, I fondly remember my own Tiny Tears doll has short blonde hair and came in a baby grow, now she has lovely long golden locks and comes in a pretty dress. She has recently had a slight make-over for 2016 with a new specially designed fabric dress that is unique to her.  The doll comes complete with potty, bottle, dummy and hairbrush and is hard bodied and does not need any batteries. She will drink water from the bottle and then have a wee on the potty, she can cry real tears and if you lay her down flat she will close her eyes and go to sleep.

My three-year-old daughter Sophia is really starting to show an interest in dolls lately and we had actually been planning to get her a Tiny Tears doll for Christmas but we were kindly sent one to review instead from John Adams toys. As soon as Sophia seen the doll she fell in love with her long hair and pretty dress and got straight to work brushing the doll's hair. She really enjoys giving Tiny Tears the bottle, although if you give it the water you do need to put it on the potty straight afterwards.

Sophia really likes that you can sit Tiny Tears up and she will sit upright on her own, perfect for playing tea party's with her other dolls. I think the fact that this doll looks slightly different to other dolls on the market is what makes her so appealing to little ones, with her long hair she looks more like a little toddler girl than an actual baby like other dolls do.

Tiny Tears Classic Doll

Tiny Tears brings back so many happy memories from my own childhood and I think it is so wonderful watching my own child play with a toy that I loved so much myself as a child. Sophia seems to really love her new doll and hopefully, she will create lots of happy memories with her doll like I did with mine many years ago.

You can buy the Classic Tiny Tears doll from all leading toy retailers RRP £19.99, which I think is amazing value for such an iconic and lovely toy.

Do you remember Tiny Tears from your own childhood?

Disclosure we were sent this doll for the purpose of this review, however all opinions are my own.

  4. I was never really into dolls as a child, and none of my children have shown an interest in dolls either. I remember my friends had tiny tears dolls when we were little, and they were much loved x
