We Are Moving

I have gone on and on about moving for such a long time as we have been waiting to move for months now. I think I had kind of given up all hope of it ever actually happening as things kept going wrong and getting delayed. We were meant to move a month ago but things got delayed as the new house had to have an asbestos report (thankfully it got the all clear). Last week we signed all the paperwork and made everything legal and we finally got the keys to our new home.

Up until getting the keys, I did not believe that the move would actually happen, I guess I just did not want to get my hopes up as so many things have gotten in the way of us moving recently. We are moving to a large 3-bed semi detached house in the same village we live in now, so we are not moving far at all. The new house is much bigger than our current home but it does need some work doing to it as it is all decorated rather old fashioned at the moment.

As the house is rather old-fashioned (it was built in the 1950's) the boiler has had to be replaced along with the electrics and we do need to redecorate the whole house over the next year. However, as it is so close to Christmas we are just going to give everywhere a lick of paint for now and then after Christmas decorate a room at a time to make it more 'us'. Expect lots of home decor posts in the new year as I have all 3 bedrooms to decorate, a bathroom, toilet, stairs and hallway, lounge/dining room, kitchen and pantry, utility room and three gardens.

We are actually moving on Friday, which is my birthday of all days, so I don't have long at all to get everything sorted. I still have most of this house to pack up, I have had the boxes for ages but have kept putting off packing as I did not want to jink the move. I am really regretting that now as I honestly don't know how I am going to get everything packed in time, we have so much stuff with three built-in cupboards, a loft and a shed bursting at the seams with belongings.

I also have to change my address everywhere and sort out royal mail re-directs, paint the new house, go shopping for curtains and new bits and pieces for the new home and look after the children. Things are going to be a bit crazy for the next week that is for sure. So things will be a bit quiet on my blog and social media for the next week. We *should* have internet in the new house next Friday when we move so I am sure it won't be too long before I am telling you all how the move went, what are new home is like and most probably how I never want to move again. I am already so very stressed by the whole thing.

I am also feeling a bit sad to be leaving this house too, I have lived in this house such a long time and it is full of so many wonderful memories but we have simply outgrown it now. I am looking forward to making lots of new happy memories in our new home, though, it feels like a fresh start and a new chapter for us and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

  4. I hope the packing is going well and good luck with embarking on doing up a home. We are doing ours at the moment and it is quite an undertaking. That said, if there isn't wallpaper up on the walls, you should be able to do yours in half the time it has taken us to do ours. I feel as though we have spent a lifetime stripping wallpaper now!! Good luck for Friday and I hope you are planning on having a takeaway on your first night there, it's the new house rule!! xxx
