Kiddyum Toddler Meals Review

Recently I was contacted by Kiddyum to see if I would like to try out there frozen ready meals, I had never heard of them before but they sounded perfect for toddlers. Kiddyum meals are frozen ready meals specially designed for children aged 1-4 years old by mum of two Jayne Hynes, who has created all these meals herself and taste tested them on her own two children. They are all made from natural ingredients here in the UK with lots of hidden veg and no added salt, sugar or hidden nasties, making them perfect for little tummies.

Kiddyum meals come in five different varieties of Cheesy Peasy Pasta, Macaroni Bolognaise, Cottage Pie, Fish & Veg Pie and Chicken Curry with Rice. The packaging is colourful and fun and appealing to children and they are just the right portion size for a pre-school aged child. They are available from selected Sainsbury's stores nationwide from the freezer section priced at a very reasonable £1.90 each.

These meals are perfect for keeping in your freezer for those days when you just don't have the time to cook and need something quick and easy to make for your little ones to eat. They are so quick and easy to cook taking just 5 minutes in the microwave or 30 minutes in the oven. I admit that I was a little unsure if my children would eat these meals at first as they have never actually had a ready meal before, as I always make them something from scratch but they love eating pasta dishes and vegetables which are available in these meals.

As I have two toddlers a 19-month-old and an almost 3-year old I decided to try these meals out on both of my children, as they are so different when it comes to food. My 19-month-old son Jacob will eat anything we give him and is such a good eater, my little girl Sophia, on the other hand, is so so fussy and will only eat a few select foods and sometimes point blank refuses whatever we give her.

I was amazed that Sophia actually sat and ate the cheesy peasy pasta meal, as this meal was in a cheese sauce and she normally will not eat any kind of food in a sauce. Jacob seemed to like the Macaroni Bolognaise meal, I think with there being five different meals to choose from that there is a meal to suit any little taste buds.

Overall I think that these meals are a good idea to have in your freezer so that you have something quick, healthy and tasty for your child's mealtime. I think that they are great value and I was pleased to see that they are made here in the UK using British meat and dairy and are full of natural ingredients.

If you live in the Newcastle area then these meals are currently only available at Sainsbury's in Heaton and Monkseaton, you can find a full list of all of the stockists and more information about these meals on the Kiddyum website

Disclosure I was sent a voucher to purchase these meals for the purpose of this review, however, as always all views are my own.

  2. My daughter is 5 now, but I remember when we used to freeze meals for her and this is something I would probably buy if I had a toddler. They are so handy to have :) Dean of Little Steps.
