Lunch At The Northside Diner Fenwicks

Once a month I always make sure that I spend at least one day with each of my three children, my teen loves having one on one time with me. I think she sometimes gets a bit sick of having her little brother and sister around and she likes having my undivided attention. Now that she is thirteen she likes to chose what we do on our days together, they mainly consist of either a trip to the cinema or music concert or a day shopping in Newcastle with lunch somewhere she picks.

One place that we have visited a few times now over the years, that my teen loves is the Northside diner located in Fenwicks. The Northside Diner is a 1950's style American diner serving typical American style diner foods of burgers, hot dogs and milkshakes. It is located on the third floor, in the toy department of Fenwicks right in the heart of the city centre.

A few weeks ago we visited again and I thought that I would write a quick post about it as we really enjoy visiting here and it is perfect for grabbing lunch when you are out and about with little ones or teens this half term. I love that even though Northside diner is located in the city centre of Newcastle you can normally get a table fairly easily, even in the holidays which when you are dining with impatient children is always a bonus.

The diner is decorated in 1950's American style decor and you are seated in big red booths, the menu is made up mainly of burgers and hot dogs but it also serves a couple of pasta dishes such as mac n cheese and meatballs and also a few different salads as well as light bite options. They also have a children's menu which is quite generous my one and two year normally share a meal and there is more then enough for them both.

On our recent visit, we decided to get burgers I opted for the classic chicken burger priced at £8.25, this was a buttermilk chicken breast served in a brioche bun with salad and a fries. Chloe opted for a classic flame grilled beef burger topped with cheese and salad and served with fries priced at £7.50. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious the chicken in my burger was really meaty and crisp and I had so many fries I could not eat them all. Chloe's burger was really juicy and cooked perfectly and again her portion was so big she could not finish all of her fries either.

We also ordered drinks of a diet coke for myself which comes in a glass bottle, I always think it tastes much nicer out of a glass bottle or maybe I am just imagining things. Chloe opted for a chocolate milkshake which was so thick and creamy and very filling.

Overall we really enjoyed our lunch at the Northside diner as the atmosphere is relaxing with 1950's style of music on in the background and the food is delicious. The bill came to just over £20 which I think was good value for what we received. If you are looking for somewhere to eat next time your in Newcastle with your children then I would recommend Northside diner.

 * Update 2018 - The Northside Diner has now closed down. *
