January 2016

I love when I sit down each month to write a monthly round-up of the month gone by, a way to record what our life was like and something to look back on in years to come. I know I say this every single month but it really does not seem so long ago that I sat down and wrote about what December had been like for us. Most people seem to dislike January but I actually quite like it, sure it is cold and the weather is miserable and everyones bank balance is looking a little bleak after the excess of Christmas. I on the other hand love January! it is the start of a new year and it is generally a quiet and relaxing month, which I think is needed after the craziness that is Christmas.

Anyway, let's have a little look at what January was like for myself and my family. I have hardly taken any photos at all this month so excuse the lack of pictures.

Personal Life

As I mentioned January is a fairly quiet month in our household, we don't have any birthdays or celebrations and we generally just have lots of cosy days and nights at home, snuggled up spending quality time together as a family. I love nothing more than staying in with the heating on whilst it is cold and wet outside, I have spent so many days this month watching Disney films with my little two on rainy days. Jacob has developed a bit of an obsession with Bing Bong a character from the film Inside Out, I think I need to go to the Disney store to see if I can buy him a one.

As it was the new year I made some new years resolutions for the year ahead and in typical cliche fashion my number one goal was to lose weight (I make and fail at the same goal every single year). I have joined my local Slimming World group and got off to a good start with a 5.5lb weight loss in my first week, however even though I have been so good the weight has not been coming off the last two weeks. I am very disheartened but I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed I lose something this week.

I also faced up to the fact that I have been suffering from postnatal depression and anxiety for the last year and a half, after trying to hide the fact for so long it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm not going to lie some days are still hard but things are so much easier then they were before, I am slowly starting to feel like 'me' again.

Family life has been good, nothing much has happened if I am honest we have had no days out or anything due to the awful weather. I did have a day out shopping and for lunch with my eldest which was so nice spending time with her without constant interruption from her siblings. I also spent some one on one time with the little two, I could not believe how easy it was looking after just one toddler instead of two!

Nothing much has happened with my eldest Chloe this month or the other half. Sophia is still doing great with her potty training and is now dry during the night as well as during the day. She has also been assessed by a speech therapist due to having delayed speech, she seems to be talking more and more each day which is so wonderful and has also made her amazing little personality shine through. Jacob is now 17 months and he is such a mummy's boy and follows me like a shadow, he is also talking so well and him and Sophia now actually play together which is heartwarming to watch.

Blog Life

January has been a fairly quiet month on the blogging front really, I decided over my Christmas break that I wanted to take my blogging more serious this year and make my blog something I was proud of. Over the last month, I had read so many amazing blogs and I fell back in love with blogging. This month I am going to make sure I make the changes I want to my blog and I will also be featuring a lot more personal posts, photos and things that make me happy as I really don't want a blog jam packed with non-stop reviews.

January also seen my blog views almost double what they normally are thanks to Pinterest which now accounts for 48% of my blog traffic! I am not the best with social media as I just don't have time to keep up with them all as I have two toddlers to look after during the day. However I have decided that this month I am going to work on my social media more, especially my Pinterest as after seeing the increase in my traffic I know it will be worth it.

I will also be setting up my new guest post feature this month, make sure you keep an eye out for a post explaining more about that later in the week. I would love it if people got involved as I am so scared it will be a flop.

So that was what January was like for us, how was it for you?

  2. I love reading round-ups, I keep saying I'm going to do monthly ones but I never get round to it! It's awesome that you are getting so much traffic from pinterest, it's probably the social site I get the least amount of traffic from. Really need to put a bit of effort in to it!
Excited to hear about your new guest post feature, is it something I can take part in?x

    1. You really should start doing a round-up I started last summer and I love that I can look back on them. I often think I have done nothing at all but when I write it all down I realise we have actually done stuff. Pinterest is amazing, I must admit I don't use it as much as I should and still have to spend more time on it but just making a few changes has seen my views double. Yes I would love you to take part in my feature, I was going to message you and ask if you would take part once I have it all set up xx
