Decorating And Organising A School Locker

My eldest daughter is in secondary school and has her own school locker that she uses to store her coat and bag in during the school day. I think this is a great idea as I never had lockers when I was in high school and I use to have to carry my coat and bags around every lesson with me. I remember watching American high school TV shows like 'Saved By The Bell' and 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch' and always feeling a little envious they had really cool decorated school lockers.

So when Action Storage recently got in contact and asked if Chloe would like to come up with some locker storage and decoration ideas I thought this could be a fun activity. To help us with our locker decorating idea we were sent a sunny yellow double locker (one on top of the other). Chloe thinks having her own locker is great and is planning on having it next to her desk and using it to store all her stationary and school items.

For the challenge, we only had to decorate one compartment of the locker so Chloe went to Hobbycraft to stock up on some supplies to transform her locker to make it reflect her personality. First of all, she decided that she wanted to decorate the outside of the locker so that everyone knew it was hers, she brought some patterned alphabet stickers and used these to spell out her name on the door.

Next up she decided to buy a piece of orange foam to use as a base for her locker, she thought this would brighten it up and stop things from sliding around on the metal base. She also brought a pretty pen holder to store all her felt tips and sharpie pens in to keep them nice and organised. Next, she added a rather pretty notebook, this is perfect for writing down notes to hopefully help keep her more organised.

A big storage container with lots of separate compartments was next on her list, this will be handy for keeping small items such as rubbers, pencil sharpeners and paper clips all nice and organised and easy to find. Lastly, she added some small coloured storage tubs, these will be ideal for keeping change in or her inhalers so she always knows where they are and won't keep losing them.

We were going to add some pictures and she has a wooden sign she wanted to hang inside the locker but it looked a bit too cluttered and she much prefers the minimalistic look. Taking part in this challenge made us realise that with a little bit of imagination it is really quick and easy to decorate a locker and make it your own. It is also really easy to add a few clever storage ideas which will help keep all of your things organised and easy to find whilst helping you make the most of the small space that you have.

How do you / would you decorate your locker? I would love to know in the comments below.
