Blog Goals For 2016

This time last year I wrote about my blog and personal goals for the year ahead and this year I have decided to do the same. Yesterday I blogged about my personal goals for the year ahead and today I am sharing the things that I hope to achieve on my blog this year too.

Blog wise last year I wanted to post more often which I achieved, although not as often as I would have liked. I wanted to take better photos, this is very much a work in progress still as I have so much to learn photography wise. I also planned to comment on other blogs more, I do actually do this when I have the time. I wanted to take part in more linkys, I did this for a while but realised that I was spending so much time commenting on other blogs and hardly getting any back in return so I stopped taking part in them. I wanted to grow my social media channels which I have done as I have more then doubled all of my followers on every channel. I wanted to learn to use Pinterest which I have a little as it is now my biggest source of Traffic to my blog but I plan on working on it a lot more this year. I wanted to redesign my blog which happened in November and I wanted to go to Britmums Live which I did back in June thanks to my sponsor MAM. Lastly I wanted to have fun with my blog which I defiantly did.

So this years blog goals are similar to last years in some ways, I have picked things that are easily achievable and things that I will hopefully be able to complete by the end of the year.

1.) Get Organised.

As I mentioned in my personal goals post I am really really unorganised and this has spilled over from my personal life into my blogging too. Over the last year my blog has grown and I now get daily e-mails from Pr's, being so disorganised has lead to me forgetting to e-mail people back, being late with reviews, having a blog to do list as long as my arm and generally just feeling so overwhelmed with my blog. This year I plan to get organised with every aspect of my blogging so that I feel in control and can run my blog better.

2.) Complete All The Little Blogging Jobs On My To Do List.

If you are a blogger then you will understand what I mean when I say their is always little jobs to do on your blog to keep things maintained and running smoothly. I have a huge long list full of little jobs I need to do to improve my blog that I just never get around to doing. I am going to focus on ticking off a few off the jobs each week, as I am keep adding to it and I currently feel a bit overwhelmed by it. I know that if I do these jobs I will finally be happy with my blog and have it exactly how I want it so I know I just need to crack on with them.

3.) Work On My Pinterest Account.

This time last year I did not even have a Pinterest account and had no idea what it even was, however last spring I joined up and I am so glad I did as it is now my biggest source of traffic to my blog. Back in the summer I attended an event hosted by Pinterest UK on how best to use Pinterest , this event was so useful and by implementing some of the things that I learnt I have seen a huge increase in traffic to my blog. However I still have so much to work on and I plan on concentrating on my Pinterest account this year, growing my following and hopefully increasing my traffic further too.

4.) Change The Direction Of My Blog.

I originally set this blog up to record my pregnancy with baby number three back in 2014, I had no clue at all about blogging when I set mine up and I never expected anyone to read it. Over the last year my blog has grown and I feel like I have kind of lost my way a bit, I have been posting a lot less personal posts and a lot more reviews and sponsored posts as my blog has grown. This year I want to change things and have a bit more structure to my blog, I want to feature more days out and more real life and start back with my Slimming World posts.

5.) Set Up A Weekly Feature.

For ages now I have wanted to set up a weekly feature on my blog showcasing other bloggers, I keep meaning to set this up as I know what kind of feature I want to set up I am just scared to launch it in case no-one wants to take part and it is a flop.

6.) Go To More Blog Events.

Last year I went to Britmums which I really enjoyed as I met some amazing people who I would now class as friends. This year I have decided not to go to Britmums as they have changed it to just the one day instead of two and for people like me living nowhere near London it would mean two nights away from home and ends up being rather expensive. I am going to BlogOn and I am also thinking of going to some other events too as I love putting names to blogs and hopefully the chance to catch up with some friends.

7.) Be More Sociable.

In real life I am quiet a shy person until you get to know me and I am the same with my blog too. I am 'friends' with lots of bloggers on social media and I do talk to some regularly but I sometimes feel like I don't fit in with some groups of bloggers, especially local bloggers which is a shame as I would love to have some closer blogging friends. I plan on being more social on social media this year as I have neglected it a bit this year and would like to make more friends (or try to).

8.) Continue To Grow My Social Media.

I plan on spending more time on social media this year as I sometime neglect it for days at a time. I want to get into the habit of posting on Instagram daily, being more chatty on Twitter again and paying more interest to Facebook. I am also hoping that I can continue to grow my social media especially my Facebook page as that is my weakest social media account.

9.) Improve My Photos.

Last year I wanted to improve my photos and I have a little bit but I still have so much still to learn with photography. This year I want to actually get a decent camera and stop using iphone photos so often. I think improving my photography will very much be a work in progress over time.

10.) Enjoy It.

Sometimes blogging can be hard work, sometimes it can be lonely and stressful but on the whole it is something that I enjoy. I want to continue enjoy blogging and having fun with my blog as the moment I stop enjoying it is the moment I know that it is time to stop blogging.

So those are my blog goals for the year ahead, if your a blogger what are your blog goals for this year? I would love to know in the comments below.

  1. Oh I need to get organised too. I feel a bit inspired after reading this. I find though I spend so much time blogging I have hardly any time for the admin side. Maybe we should employ a pa he he

  2. Your goals are very similar to mine, I need to be organised too. It is so easy to get blogged under and get stressed about it all!

I rarely use pinterest, I must try and get it a go! One of my aims this year is to improve my photos too... I don't compare my photos to other bloggers but I feel like mine need so much improvement!

And I agree with your last point, it is so important to enjoy it :)

  4. I think these are great goals. Don't try to achieve too much though, you're doing great already! I also want to stay more organised (which is so hard) and read and comment on more blogs. Good luck :) Jess xx
